#MasksForSpearfish Project

Request Masks

Local organizations can request masks using this form.

Kids Mask Patterns

Child-sized masks will be made available to local students who need cloth masks for the school year.

There are a variety of patterns you can choose below. View requirements for a suitable kids mask.

Mask Patterns

Monument Health has approved two patterns for masks. Mask 1 goes over an N95 mask and extends its useful life (most used in hospital settings). Mask 2 is a fabric mask with a pocket for a filter (most used in other healthcare settings). Both masks are a priority for local healthcare workers. Additional masks are being distributed to the community and local businesses.

Download the instructions and patterns here:

*Note: If you print the patterns yourself, please triple check that the pattern is printed out at the right size (i.e. the test square has the correct measurement).
*Note: Please do NOT use elastic for the straps. Monument will only accept masks made according to these patterns.

Isolation Gowns

Monument Health has approved one pattern for isolation gowns.

Getting Materials for Masks or Gowns

You can pick up fabric, elastic, and other materials from Hudson Hall (222 W Hudson St, Spearfish) at the following times:

  • Monday, 2-3pm

Please stay in your vehicle in front of Hudson Hall and someone will bring you a packet of materials to make masks or gowns.

Need fabric or a pattern delivered to you? Fill out this form.

Dropping Off Completed Masks or Gowns

Completed masks should be dropped off at Spearfish Salvation Army during open hours only.

You can also drop off completed masks (loose, not in a bag) during any of our materials pick up times listed above.

If you have other materials to donate, please take those to Spearfish Salvation Army so they can be cleaned before distributing into the community.

Share Your Work Online

Sharing your work online encourages others to get involved and makes our community feel more connected. Please upload a photo of what you’re working on to Facebook or Instagram and tag @makespaceSD and use the hashtag #MasksForMonument.

Don’t forget to complete this form to help us keep track of how many masks have been donated.

Other Ways to Help

Monument Health is looking for other items to be donated. Check this site for a full list.

If you live in another community, Monument Health's site lists alternative drop off locations for these masks and other items.
